Six days after the hurricane (09/03) HSUS made it animal rescuer Terri
Mitchell's house in Ocean Springs, Mississippi with supplies. Her
rescued animals (she kept them on her roof for 48 hours to save their lives)
were taken in preparation for evacuation to the Jackson City Pound (Gautier,
MS). The animals have not been seen since. They may have been
transferred to Hattiesburg or Jackson Colliseum. It is thought
they were mistakenly placed as "owner surrender". Several animals are
"special needs".
All are spayed/neutered and very friendly:
Bjack - Beagle mix, female, 10-12 yrs old, just survived cancer, may have
red leather collar on. Special Needs!
Trini - Shep/Chow mix, red, female. Had collar on at the time and is
chipped.
Redeye - Black lab mix, male, has white on some feet, just healing from
demodectic mange, no collar, special needs (due to mange).
Prada - Walker hound/Chow mix, red, female
Sable - yellow lab mix, female
Shamu - Black and white Tuxedo, a bit pudgy and a great cat.
Stumpy - Brown tabby, male, big, part of his tail has been cut off
